Who we are
Goldfields Insight Meditation is a community of lay practitioners in Castlemaine, who come together to support each other’s practice, to learn and grow in wisdom and compassion, and to foster harmony in community. We practise in the Buddhist tradition of Insight Meditation or Vipassanā, via teaching lineages of Burma and Thailand. We are affiliated with Melbourne Insight Meditation.
Vipassanā practice includes cultivating serenity (which supports the calming of the body and mind), and insight (which helps us to see clearly into the nature of human experience). Together, these two ‘wings’ of practice lead to compassion and wisdom, and freedom from suffering.
Our guiding teacher, Robyn Gibson, is an authorised Insight Dharma teacher who has been practising and studying meditation for 30 years. Read more about Robyn, and access recorded and written teachings, here.
Our facilitators, Belinda James, Maggie O’Shea, and Fran Woodruff, are all long-term meditators in the Insight Meditation tradition. (Fran and Maggie are currently undertaking a Dharma Teacher Training pathway through Insight Meditation Institute.)
Our weekly meditation sessions and other events are suitable for beginning meditators, as well as experienced practitioners. All are welcome to join with us in contemplating what it is to live a flourishing human life in these times.
